Goodbye SF! Hello road trip!

It’s been a bittersweet last few days, as Vanessa and I have said goodbye to San Francisco and embarked on an exciting road trip. We both lived in SF for 6+ years, and I lived that entire time in the same apartment in the Mission. That is, until Monday morning, when we packed up the car and got on the road down to Carmel for our first stop.

Some great times were had in that apartment, and it made me sad to walk through it one last time and see it empty again, as it had last been when we moved in, in late January 2004. To come is a retrospective post with some highlights of the six years.

We had a relaxing day with my dad in Carmel on Monday afternoon and this morning, a nice change after a manic week of packing and moving, and saying our goodbyes to good friends. The rain broke overnight, making for beautiful driving today as we left Carmel via Highway 1 and drove down to Santa Barbara for the night.

Santa Barbara is a cute town, much like Santa Cruz or San Luis Obispo in our experience. Tomorrow takes us to LA and the hospitality of the Poffenbergers.
