I’ve got my pre-order in for Rock Band 2, slated to arrive on September 17. I chose to just get the game this time, since I’ve already got the full instrument set. Supposedly the new version of the guitar and drums are big upgrades, but I’ll wait and see what the reviews have to say before dropping the dinero for that. Also, the instrument bundle isn’t out until mid-October.

Modest Mouse, “Float On.” Awesome! I can only hope that some more Mouse will come via downloadable content. And how about some more New Pornos? The one tune included in Rock Band 1 is one of my least favorite New Pornos tracks.
Bon Jovi, “Living on a Prayer.” There hasn’t been enough cheese rock in these music games. How awesome would it be to have some Warrant, Poison or Motley Crue? Hopefully they’ll open the floodgates on this genre. See also the Journey tune, although that hair metal is a few years before my time.
Motorhead, “Ace of Spades.” A classic. I think they used this in the scene in Grosse Pointe Blank where Cusack has a shoot-out in the convenience mart that stands on the site of his childhood home.
Interpol, “PDA.”
Lit, “My Own Worst Enemy.” A guilty pleasure of mine from my college years. “The car is in the front yard, I’m sleeping with my clothes on…”

How many times have I read that this type of volume leveler is on the way or is part of a new TV? Enough that I yawn when I read this. Not holding my breath.
Interesting column. Makes me think about reconsidering my views on Lloyd, but ultimately we’re talking the two worst losses in 40 years, in two consecutive games. Bye bye.
Pretty depressing to read how poorly Henne played. WTF is wrong with that guy? Don’t people usually get better as they get older in college, with better offensive talent surrounding them?
I downloaded the Xbox 360 demo of EA’s latest college football game, NCAA 08. This year’s version has strong reviews, much improved from the first couple versions on the 360 (and it has been more favorably reviewed than the PS3 version, as the frame rate is 2x on the 360). The demos lets you play as either USC or Michigan in a matchup at the LA Coliseum, very cool. The game itself plays pretty well, although I shudder at the thought of how much time I would have to invest to shake the rust off my gameplay skills after a few years away from video football, not to mention the time commitment to rename Michigan’s roster and run through a few dynasty seasons.
However, I had to turn the demo off in the third quarter after Mike Hart’s second fumble of the game. That’s right, the man who has not fumbled in ages, who apparently glues the ball to his arm, had fumbled twice in one game. Admittedly, the first fumble was overturned by some sort of auto-video replay challenge (although on what grounds I could not tell), but another fumble? C’mon.
